PCOS and its psychological aspect

I feel like psychological aspects of PCOS are not mentioned enough. Even though research shows that mental disorders: including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, lower self-esteem and negative body-image are highly prevalent in women with PCOS.

As a consequence we suffer lower quality of life and poorer emotional well-being compared to our non-PCOS friends.

Rotterdam criteria describes only reproductive symptoms of PCOS (oligomenorrhea, hirsutism/biochemical hyperandrogenism, polycystic ovaries).

Metabolic features of PCOS are also recognised, but awareness of psychological comorbidities like: anxiety, depression or eating disorders in PCOS is almost non-existing.
